India: Crew of US anti-piracy ship receive jail sentences

Thirty-five crew members of the US anti-piracy ship ‘MV Seaman Guard Ohio’ were convicted in the district court of the port city of Thoothukudi, southern India, on Monday. The crew were convicted of violating international maritime border rules after making an alleged unauthorised entrance into Indian waters. Weapons and ammunition were also found aboard the vessel, which is owned by a US company.
